VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Jeans for Genes Day 2024 - Friday 2nd August! 

This Jeans for Genes Day, hundreds of wonderful volunteers will join us to hit the streets, shopping centres and train stations around Sydney to help raise vital funds for Children’s Medical Research Institute.

 

Many of our volunteers come back year after year because there’s nothing quite like the energy and excitement of Jeans for Genes Day! We welcome individuals, families, students, corporate groups, entire offices to join us on the day for a few hours.

 

Benefits of a Jeans for Genes Day volunteer:

• You can sign up as an individual and meet likeminded volunteers on the day.
• You can get a group of friends or workmates together to form a team.
• You can use your volunteering for community engagement hours, school or university requirements or corporate volunteer days.
• Being part of a wonderful cause to give every child the opportunity to live a long and healthy life.

 

As a Jeans for Genes Day volunteer:

• Assist with set up and pack down
• Selling Jeans for Genes merchandise
• Handling cash (gloves provided) but predominately eftpos sales
• Interacting with the public
• Raising awareness about the Children’s Medical Research Institute
• Comply with WH&S Standards
• Act as “eyes and ears” on the ground and reporting back any issues, concerns or other matters that may need to be addressed.

 

Requirements of a Jeans for Genes Day volunteer:

• Respect confidentiality and privacy
• Be punctual and reliable
• Carry out the duties listed in your volunteer position description
• Be accountable
• Give notice if your availability changes
• Report any injuries or hazards that you notice in the workplace
• Adhere to the organisation's policies and procedures
• Deal with complaints in the appropriate manner
• Undertake training as requested
• Ask for support when needed
• Support other team members
