Opportunity Details | Lewisville Community Garden 2024 (RLCOG)
Opportunity Name:
Lewisville Community Garden 2024 (RLCOG) |
|
Description:
The Rich Lubke Community Organic Garden located at 900 N. Kealy benefits The Salvation Army of Lewisville by supplying fresh, organically grown vegetables to the kitchen and food pantry where they are providing nutritious, hot meals in Lewisville, TX. These meals are provided every day of the week to our homeless and struggling population, many of the recipients would not have fresh vegetables if it were not for the Salvation Army.
Meals are also provided to our local teen shelter. Many children under the age of 18 live in circumstances where a daily hot meal cannot be provided to them. This need is heightened during the summer when the number of meals served daily by the Salvation Army doubles. This meal may be the only hot and nutritional daily meal that a child/family receives during the summer months.
Open to ages 5 years old and older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Duties: OUTDOORS in the community garden, we will water, weed, and repair path walkways and enjoy the outdoors.
Please report to Lee Dryja - RLCOG Operation Manger/Volunteer Coordinator (469-222-6771) when you arrive to the garden.
Sign-in is at 8:30am on Saturday in the parking lot, work in garden begins at 9:00am. Clean up starts at 11:30am. We will conclude with a photo of the group and dismissal will be at approximately 12:00.
Don't Forget: DRESS COMFORTABLY FOR THE OUTDOORS! You may wear your organization's shirt and closed-toe shoes with light/white socks covering your ankles.
