The Stallions are a fun, energetic team with a family feel located in the St. Michael/Albertville/Hanover area. The majority of our practices are held in St. Michael, Hanover or Otsego (Albertville border). We focus heavily on unified sports and opportunities because we truly believe we’re better together! We all learn from each other! Our team is unique in that we accept and gladly welcome athletes of all ages, so we usually have a nice mix of school-aged and adult athletes who participate in the various sports we offer.

 

The Stallions are looking for:

  •  2-3 assistant coaches to help run weekly practices, focusing on assisting and supporting athletes as they run through drills and learn the basics of flag football.
  • 3-4 unified partners to play alongside athletes as teammates, assisting during weekly practices, and help athletes learn and improve at the game of flag football.

Unified flag football practice will be held every Sunday evening, 3PM-4PM from August to October at Mallard's Landing Park in Hanover. 

 

All volunteers are required to complete Special Olympics Minnesota's Level 1 Training & a background check, which will be sent to you once you register! Please indicate that you would like to join the Wild West on the application. 

 

Ideally, you will be able to help for each session.

 

Coach Roles:

  • Must be 8+ years old to participate as a unified partner
  • Must be 16+ years old participate as an assistant coach
  • Must complete the Level 1 training and background check
  • Must be great with people, respectful, understanding, energetic, able to delegate, and inclusive
  • Receives detailed training from SOMN staff person
  • Receives lesson plans for each session
  • Prep and lead each class using training and lesson plans given by SOMN. Example: scheduling out what each class will look like prior. Day of, leading the class in warm-ups, setting up equipment/activities, leading cool downs.
  • Flag football experience not necessary!

 

Extra Information:

Coaches should arrive 15 min prior to start of practice.

Please bring appropriate attire (athletic wear and appropriate footwear), a bottle of water, and a great attitude!
