2024 Area 4 Health Promotion & Special Smiles -Bowling

Special Olympics Florida athletes will compete in Northeast Region Bowl on Saturday, August 3.

 

WHAT: 

 

Health Promotion is a health screening where our athletes learn about a variety of health education topics like sun safety, hydration, smoking cessation and more. In addition, athletes' blood pressure and body composition will be calculated.  

 

Special Smiles is a discipline of Healthy Athletes and provides comprehensive oral health care information, including free dental screenings and instructions on proper brushing and flossing techniques. 

 

Health Promotion Volunteers Any health professional or student; especially those with a background in nursing, public health, and occupational therapy. 

 

No expertise in this field is required.

 

Special Smiles Volunteers Dental hygienists, dentists, DH students, and dental students are preferred. We also need general volunteers to help with check in/check out. 

 

 

WHERE: 

Bowl America Family Fun 1838 Cassat Ave Jacksonville

 

WHEN: 8:00AM to 3:00pm

 

Volunteer Check in will be from 7:45 am to 8:00am

Volunteers will receive: 

• A FREE Special Olympics T-Shirt
• A record of community service hours upon request.
• Free lunch

Volunteer Requirements: 

• Complete a Class B Volunteer Form
• Bring a photo ID to the event
• Volunteers under 15 MUST be accompanied by an adult

Athletic bottoms and sneakers are appropriate.

 

Please note that volunteers will be asked to stay the entire time, please plan accordingly.
