Opportunity Name:
ILS AOS Clinic: Dari, Farsi, or Pashto Interpretation (GN)

Description:

Opening Doors' Immigration Legal Services is hosting an Adjustment of Status (AOS) clinic on Monday, July 22, in Sacramento for Afghan evacuees applying for green cards and we are reaching out to volunteers for help. Opening Doors is looking for volunteers fluent in English and Dari, Farsi, or Pashto to provide interpretation for clinic participants and application preparers. This is an opportunity to work directly with our new neighbors as they pursue stability.

The clinic will go from 9 am to approximately 2 pm, with lunch provided to all volunteers.

Interpretation will involve working with an Afghan participant and an attorney preparer as they complete the AOS application. Clinic participants speak Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto. The interpretation will primarily involve biographic information as well as some details regarding the clinic participant's life. All volunteers will be encouraged to take as many breaks as needed.

This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the AOS application process. The clinic takes place at Opening Doors, in the downstairs Community Room.
