Brighter Bites Volunteer Opportunities & Registration
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Brighter Bites!
Volunteers play a vital role in our success, and we are truly grateful that you've chosen to support us and the families in our program!
Brighter Bites is the nonprofit that delivers fruits and vegetables directly into families’ hands. We teach families how to use the produce and watch their behavior change.
As part of our mission to create communities of health through fresh food we have a variety of volunteer opportunities available. These generally fall into the two main shifts listed below.
Produce Bagging
· Volunteers work to pack and sort fresh produce for Brighter Bites children and families to take home.
Produce Distribution
· Volunteers work to distribute bagged produce and discuss fresh produce with Brighter Bites families.
General volunteer tasks may include:
• Moving cases (25-50 pounds) of fruits and vegetables from the delivery truck to the bagging area.
• Sorting through produce
• Placing fruits and vegetables into the Brighter Bites bags.
• Cleaning up the work area.
• Checking-in families.
• Handing out bags/boxes to families.
• Speaking with participants about the nutrition topic of the week.
Here is our Volunteer Experience video which provides a visual for what volunteers can expect during a Brighter Bites shift.
Since 2012, Brighter Bites has:
• Served over one million people
• Distributed millions of nutrition education material
• Delivered over 60 million pounds of fresh produce
