Event Name:    Tibbetts House Volunteer Team

Volunteer Service Project Description:

Welcome and reception team for recent arrivals placed in short-term housing at the Tibbetts House.

 

Time Commitment: On-going; this service project encompasses many volunteer roles for the Tibbetts House.  By registering you will be able to record your volunteer hours for the time you spend serving Catholic Charities families.

 

 Volunteer tasks may include any of the following: 

  • Welcoming and orienting family to the house
  • Cultural navigation - help introduce family to community resources such as:
    • Tri-met
    • Grocery Store
    • Banking
    • Medical appointments
    • Schools
  • Social visits and hospitality support
    • Assist with meals, play games with children, library or park visits, etc.
  • Childcare during appointments
  • Transportation assistance: providing transportation OR accompanying on Tri-met to appointments (IE. DHS, IRCO, Medical, Social Security, classes at Catholic Charities)
  • Helping with collection drives to change over/resupply the house between family stays

 

Position Requirements:  Catholic Charities background check, Catholic Charities Refugee Services orientation, Called to Protect training & Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon background check 

 

*Volunteers under 18 must complete the Volunteer Release Form for Minors* and volunteer with an approved adult.

4. Once you have successfully signed into the system (or created a profile, if needed), select the desired Volunteers and click on the "Submit Service Project Application" button.
