Family Services Volunteer

Project Description:

When you see baby clothes do you exclaim “oh my gosh, look at that cute onesie!” If so, this may be the volunteer assignment for you! Our Family Services program is seeking a self-directed volunteer or team of two – maybe you and a friend? -- to help organize and sort baby clothes and supplies.

 

The program:

Catholic Charities’ Family Services program believes that a stable home environment creates a resilient, healthy future for children and parents. We provide baby supplies (diapers, clothes, car seat, etc.) and food boxes for low-income families in need.

  

Position Description:

Catholic Charities is fortunate to have many generous supporters who donate supplies – such as diapers, baby clothes, strollers, hand-knitted baby blankets, etc. A Family Services Volunteer is needed to organize and sort donations.

 

Work Environment:

The volunteer will have access to a large storage room on the basement level, inside our secured building. The volunteer will be given a badge and a key to the storage area. Volunteers must sign in and out when they are scheduled. Comfortable warm clothes are suggested as the storage area is in the garage area. There is lifting, sorting, and organizing involved which means you may be required to lift or carry boxes/bins up to 10 pounds.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

• Sorting/organizing baby supplies
• Able to lift to 10 pounds
• Inventory/Track items

 Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years
• Completed Catholic Charities Volunteer Application and background check
• Able to read and write English
• Thinks baby clothes are adorable
• Self-directed, able to work independently 

 

Time Commitment (include start/end date):

• 3-4 hours per week
